Welcome to the NextGen experience from British Virtual Airways. This page describe the idea behind the NextGen program which is currently being implemented at BVAir.com. NextGen stands for Next Generation and started June 2001 to improve BVAir.com and take pilots experiences to the next level of realism.

Possibly the most visible part of the program is the next generation aircraft being rolled out in the fleet. The first aircraft to be introduced as a NextGen upgrade was the Airbus 321-100, a brand new addition to the fleet. All aircraft in the fleet are now NextGen and the main features include:

Fully rounded engines and body
Unlike previous aircraft available for Microsoft Flight Simulator 95, 98 and 2000 which often had 16 or 32 sided engines, NextGen aircraft all feature perfectly round engines and body.
High resolution 3D textures
All NextGen aircraft are fitted with 3D textures such as 3D undercarriage and tailfin. All textures have been upgraded to high resolution which means you can zoom close and still get a perfectly well detailed picture.
All animated parts
No more landing gear just popping down out of nowhere! The NextGen fleet provides really smooth animations for all parts of the aeroplane. Not only undercarriage, but also tailfin rudder, front 3D wheel, engine fans, flaps, ailerons...
Night lighting
All NextGen aeroplanes feature full night lighting, with control over lighting on tail, aircraft body and nose and light beam from landing gear. Some aircraft also feature cabin lighting at night with cabin views.
Improved dashboard
NextGen aircraft offer better standard dashboard and all feature latest GPS navigation systems and autopilot functions. Some aircraft also have their own optional panels and sounds available for downloads.

NextGen systems started with the introduction of the New BVAir.com program in January 2001. British Virtual Airways was the first virtual carrier to offer fully automated flight reporting on the internet. Today, our pilots activity management program is amongst the best available and is simply the most realistic of all. A huge ASP server ensures smooth operation and you can tweak your personal page to suit your needs and make the BVAir.com experience a very comprehensive one indeed.

British Virtual Airways is providing one of the most efficient customer service of any virtual carrier.
